The Seventeenth Amendment: Death blow to State's Rights

The Seventeenth Amendment allows the Democrats in the Senate To Jam The Health Care Bill Down The Throats of The States
BILOXI, Miss. - The nation’s governors, Democrats as well as Republicans, voiced deep concern yesterday about the shape of the healthcare bill emerging from Congress, fearing that the federal government is about to hand them expensive new Medicaid obligations without providing the money to pay for them. The Boston.Com.

The Seventeenth Amendment (Amendment XVII) to the United States Constitution was passed by the Senate on June 12, 1911, the House of Representatives on May 13, 1912, and ratified by the states on April 8, 1913. The amendment supersedes Article I, § 3, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Constitution,... Wikipedia.

The Seventeenth Amendment ratification was a deadly blow to States’ Rights, and Federalism. Article 1 of the Constitution originally stated that, “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each state, chosen by the legislature thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote.” In their wisdom, the founders of the Constitution in order to preserve the sovereignty of the several states, gave each state senator, selected by the legislatures of said states, one vote. Senators voting against the interests of their states could be recalled and replaced.

The Seventeenth Amendment changed that, giving the vote to the people, who were already represented by the House of Representatives. The amendment was passed by the senate June 12, 1911, and by the House of Representatives May 13, 1912. It was ratified by the states on April 8, 1913. The amendment supersedes Article I, & 3, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Constitution, transferring Senator selection from each state's legislature to popular election by the people of each state. This was a subterfuge sneaked into the constitution by progressives who were stymied by the senators previously voting for the interests of their respective states.

Now, to bring this all to the present in the Senate. If the original provision for selecting senators was still in effect, the states could have immediate input and influence in the health care bill, or could kill it completely. They could recall and replace senators who are pushing laws, which are not supported by the states.

In the primaries and general election in November 2010, we must select senators and members of the House of Representives who will repeal the Seventeenth Amendment, and vote for term limits. These two provisions alone will eliminate the senatorial dynasties which have done nothing but to serve the special interests, which contribute to those senators favoring them in earmarks and passing pork barrel legislation.

Humane Society Animal Cruelty Ad Make You Sad? What About Abortion Victims?

by Maria Vitale
LifeNews.com Opinion Columnist
December 28, 2009

LifeNews.com Note: Maria Vitale is an opinion columnist for LifeNews.com. She is the Public Relations Director for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation and Vitale has written and reported for various broadcast and print media outlets, including National Public Radio, CBS Radio, and AP Radio.

It's gotten to the point where I have to turn my head away when I hear the opening bars of music. The haunting melody is the soundtrack for a tear-jerker of a commercial for the Humane Society. Images after images of abused pets appear on the screen. As the joyful owner of a tabby, I find portrait after portrait of man’s cruelty hard to fathom.

To me, it's quite an effective ad. I want the miserable music to stop, the cats to be placed in loving homes, the crescendo of a happy ending to play. A few dollars a month can stop this horrendous inhumanity? Sign me up to be a donor. Read article Here.

The Religion of the Left

This morning I listened in on the Dennis Prager program on am radio. What he said in response to a man calling asking why the liberals, I call them progressives as they have traveled far to the left of the classic liberal, seem not to be persuaded by the obvious will of the American people, as reflected by the polls, on the proposed health care bill, especilly tax supported abortion. Americans by and large do not want this or similar bills to be passed. His response was that to the liberals today, universal health insurance is a religion to them. He added that they would rather lose an election than to go against their 'religion.'

Over the past few months, as I wrote to my senators and my district house representative, and as I read the news about other congress representatives, I had begun to wonder why they seem to be totally unaware of the wishes of their constituents. Were the deaf? Were they so blind they could not read the polls? As I heard Prager this morning, it finally jelled why the wishes of the electorate are unheard by the liberals. Our wishes go against their 'religious' beliefs. They do not recognize the concerns of the Tea Party people, and look at them as radicals and 'astroturf,' as Speaker Pelosi referred to them. It is the same if someone tried to prove our personal religious beliefs were in error and we should accept their viewpoint. Most of us would hold to what we belief.

He added, global warming, and other liberal beliefs are also a part of their leftist religous beliefs. What convinces them that they are right in spite of opposition, is that they have arrived at their beliefs through reasoning. It matters not that thousands of scientists disagree with them.

In conclusion, after writing to those whom you now know will not listen, it seems better to prepare yourself and others to fire them in November 2010. Prager says to fight and stay cheerful. Work to get them out of there. That is what I will be doing within my political associations, and on this web site.

Doctors Call Planned Parenthood Out on Lies

By Nathan Black|Christian Post Reporter
December 15,2009

New undercover video footage by a pro-life advocacy group exposes staff at a Planned Parenthood clinic providing false information to a woman seeking abortion.

"It's not a baby," the abortionist, identified as Dr. P, tells the woman who is supposedly 10 weeks pregnant.

The video was released by Live Action, a California-based organization that investigates abortion clinics to expose "threats against the vulnerable and defenseless." Earlier this year, the organization released footage revealing a Planned Parenthood employee covering up a case of statutory rape.

In the latest undercover project, two young women visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in Appleton, Wis., on September 8. There they spoke to a counselor and the abortion doctor. Read article from The Christian Post.

Senate Rejects Abortion Restriction Amendment

Nelson's Provision Failed, But Abortion May Re-Enter Debate
By Mike Lillis 12/8/09 8:26 PM
The Washington Independent

"The Senate on Tuesday rejected an amendment to health-care reform legislation that would have placed strict new limits on women’s access to abortion coverage. The move was cheered by abortion rights advocates, but it may have eroded the support of some moderate Democrats for the underlying bill — leaving questions about whether another abortion provision will emerge later in the Senate debate.

The count was 54 to 45 to table the amendment, with seven Democrats (all men) supporting the measure and two Republicans (both women) opposing it." Read Article.

So you see, we have a "Government of the Special Interests, for the Special Interests, and by the Special Interests."

With the taxpayers picking up the bill. What a wonderful Oligarchy we have developed.

Planned Parenthood to Senate: Vote ‘no’ on Stupak Amendment

by Jessica Machetta on December 7, 2009

in Health & Medicine, Politics & Government

Planned Parenthood is touring the state this week to send a strong message to Missouri’s Senators about current healthcare legislation being debated in Washington.

Planned Parenthood Missouri is asking Missouri and other Senators to not throw women under the bus by organizing a bus tour. Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Michelle Trupiano says the bus rolls into Columbia Tuesday, and hits other key cities in the state to rally opposition throughout the week. Click here for complete story.

Blogger Note: On December third, I posted an article on Planned Parenthood. Since, I have come across the article, a part of which I quoted above and linked so you may read the entire article. My purpose here is expand on what I posted on the third.

Planned Parenthood is not interested in women's health. They are interested in money and in ensuring their ability to make more money by lobbying congress to pass legislation in their (special) interest. Some years the organization pulls in a billion dollars or more (click for source here).

Their income comes from three sources: Government financial support, monies earned from abortions, and donations. However, people are waking up, and they are now frantic as income has deteriorated and they are in economic trouble (for more information, click on the following for more information: The Bad Business of Planned Parenthood).

Planned Parenthood is a registered lobbyist, along with NARAL I don't know whether all of the lobbyists are registered or not, due to the chicanery coming from our present administration. But they include, AFL/CIO, SEIC, labor organizations, Wall Street, Banks, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, ACORN, AMA, ARP, Pro-Gay & Lesbian organizations, and many others.

I seem to remember hearing Candidate Obama promising us if we elected him president, he would throw out all lobbyists from his administration. It seems the only people who do not have a lobbyist working in their behalf are the taxpayers. And where is the transparency Obama promised? Much of the so-called health bill (which of several different version), were crafted behind closed doors with the Republicans locked out.

These pro-abortion organizations who call themselves pro-womens' health, or pro-choice are lying. Pro-choice would more properly seem to describe the situation in which a pregnant woman's doctor finds a serious problem with her pregnancy that would pose a dangerous health problem for her, and recommend an abortion. The operation would then be carried out in a recognized full-service hospital by her doctor or a staff surgeon, and not in an abortion mill.

To even pretend the bill is pro-health care is hypocrisy of the highest order. So let's not listen to all the lies from these pro-abortion special interest lobby groups. Let's write our congressmen and woman and senators to kill the so-called health care bill.

Post-Abortion Pain May be Driving Attacks on Pro-Life Stalwart Sarah Palin

by Janet Morana
December 4, 2009

LifeNews.com Note: Janet Morana is the executive director of Priests for Life and the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness campaign helping women who have been hurt by abortions to speak out.

It's been over a year since the election of 2008 and yet Sarah Palin cannot show up in the news without a barrage of vicious attacks from the media. Although she is no longer a candidate for vice president, the vitriol continues to spew over the release of her book, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

Many think the anti-Sarah sentiment stems from her solid pro-life position but I would like to explore reasons that go way beyond her feelings about abortion.

As you look back in history to the late 1960s and 1970s, you see a wave of feminist ideals being sold to women, including the notion that they needed to delay motherhood to get ahead in their careers. Many women bought into this belief that giving birth and career advancement didn't mix. So what happened? Read entire article here.

As I peruse the daily offerings of News, blogs, Cable TV, etc., I see a plethora of articles about Planned Parenthood, Naral, and other pro-abortion supporters seething through their teeth about the problems they are having with congress, including their fellow Democrats and Liberals, in the (projected) health care bills.

They are like little children who are not getting their way and they scream, bellyache, ridicule, insult, and impune evil to pro-life supporters, and Sarah Palin especially, as she seems to represent all women who are against abortion.

They are hypocrites who cannot measure up to her stature. They abhor decency, and are trying by hook and crook, and any measure they can to have you and I, taxpayers, pay for abortion, i.e., birth control for their promiscuous ways: Sex on deman, and to take care of unwanted pregnancies, abortions on demand.

We know enough about Obamacare now, to insist that they drop the whole thing, except for approving health insurance coverage across state lines, and tort reform. Let's wait until the 2010 elections before we proceed further.

Planned Parenthood Fearful of Taxpayers Not Paying for Abortions

This is outrageous at the least! Abortion providing Planned Parenthood is afraid of losing money if women had to pay for their own abortions, and want we, many who are pro-life, to pay for it out of our taxes. We should remember that Planned Parenthood is one of many special interest groups that supported the candidacy of Barack Obama for the presidency and other pro-choice candidates running for office or for re-election. They are now looking for payback from those they helped elect to throw them the promised financial bone.
Planned Parenthood Opposes Senate Version of Stupak Amendment on Abortion

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
December 2, 2009

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The language of the Senate version of the Stupak amendment to stop abortion funding in health care hasn't been made public yet, but Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards wasted little time in condemning it. Sen. Ben Nelson only revealed yesterday that he is working on the amendment. Read article here.

We need to continue to write to our senators to let them know that we want the Stupak amendment added to the health bill (in case they do muster the votes to pass it).

With or without the amendment, the health care bill will be an economic disaster for America, its citizens, and its families, and a loss of many of our freedoms. This must be fixed in the November 2010 election.

Dear America (True Thanksgiving)

In uploading backup disks to my new computer, somehow, I caused problems with my flash video and this youtube ceased working and I deleted it. I have re-installed the necessary software and I am re-posting the youtube which I fee especially appropriate this time of year:
