Kansas Legislature Working To Enhance State Sovereignty Under The Tenth Amendment

Commentary—Rick

I posted this on my other blog: The Constitution of our forefathers, but I am also posting it here as it relates to pro-life vs abortion. One of the greatest anti-Tenth Amendment decisions in recent history was the 1973 Roe V Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, which took away the decision of defining abortion from the states and put it under federal jurisdiction. The argument is not whether abortion was legal or not, but which laws should define it, state or federal. If we ever wish to repeal Roe v Wade, we must assert state's rights under the Tenth Amendment, along with replacing progressives in Congress with true constructionist constitutional conservatives.

And in that context, I wish to report on two proposed Amendments to the Kansas Constitution, which, if passed by the voters of Kansas, will ensure the sovereignty of Kansas to protect our rights guaranteed under the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution.

ONE: In March of this year, the Kansas Legislature overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment to protect our individual rights to gun ownership. The Resolution, SCR 1611, was sponsored by Senator Tim Huelskamp, Senator Mike Peterson, and others, and was approved by the House. It will go to a vote of the citizens of Kansas in November 2010!

With this proposed constitutional amendment, we shall ensure we have an individual right to gun ownership in Kansas, stating that our state has the sovereign right to uphold the individual rights of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution regardless of unconstitutional laws and activist judge’s decisions contrariwise. This is a great victory for the 2nd Amendment in Kansas!

This is a Firearms Freedom Act, similar to that passed by other states. For information on what other states are doing, Click here.

TWO: Tuesday, Oct. 27, Kansas State Legislators announced a Kansas Health Care Freedom Amendment as they traveled in areas throughout Kansas from Wichita, to Emporia, Topeka, and Overland Park. Americans for Prosperity supplied a bus that transported them from city to city.

The state sovereignty resolution will send a message to the federal government, and it is a powerful message when other states are sending the same message. The Health Care Freedom Amendment, however, does much more than send a message. If passed, it will be an amendment to the Kansas Constitution, acting to preserve the freedom of Kansans to provide for their health care. See what other states are doing. Click here.

How Kansas and Missouri Representatives Voted for the Hate Crimes Bill

The Democrats added the so-called hate crimes amendment to the Department of Defense Authorization, FY 2010 Bill, and below is how the Kansas and Missouri Representatives voted on it. This deceptive move by the Democrats was a maneuver calculated to pass an unpopular amendment by attaching it to a 'must pass' bill.

How the U.S. House from Kansas voted:
Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-2) Yes
Rep. Dennis Moore (D-3) Yes
Rep. Jerry Moran (R-1) No
Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-4) No

Kansas Senators: Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts both voted no.

How the U.S. House from Missouri voted:
Rep. Todd Akin (R-2) No
Rep. Roy Blunt (R-7) No
Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-3) Yes
Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay (D-1) Yes
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-5) Yes
Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-8) No
Rep. Sam Graves (R-6) No
Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-9) Yes
Rep. Ike Skelton (D-4) Yes

Missouri Senators: Kit Bond and Claire McCaskill both voted Yes.

We should write, call, or email each of them to let them know we either appreciate or disapprove of their vote.

Why The Congressional Delay On Passing A Health Reform Bill?

Commentary

I’ve been following health reform since Candidate Obama promised, midst many other promises, that he would sign a universal health care bill within a short time after winning the presidency.

But, as of October 2009, we still do not see a health care bill. Neither do we see other campaign promised fulfilled, including Gitmo closed He promised not to tax anyone earning under $50,000—or was it under $250,000, 240,000, 200,000, or 150,000–who knows. He promised a five day period of review before either house passes a bill, to not approve any earmarks, but the first bill he signed included 9,000 of them, and many other promises that have failed.

I remember that passing a universal health care bill was one of Barack Obama’s major goals. He obviously has a lot of support. But, what has happened?

President Obama has garnered the support of the American Nurses Association, the American Medical Association (with only a fraction of American doctors involved), an agreement from drug companies to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors, which AARP supports.

The Democrats are continually pressured by Planned Parenthood, Naral, various Hispanic groups, i.e., National Council of La Raza, the Chicana Latina Foundation, Latin American Youth Center, National Latina Health Network, Congresso de Hispanics Unidos, and the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund to include abortion costs in any health bill passed. This is interesting as most Hispanics are pro-life.

We add unions such as UAW, the AFL-CIO, SEIU, and many smaller unions which are on board with a government health care package.

Then, we have many organizations against a government health care program for various reasons: Pro-life groups against taxpayer support of abortions, gun owners, Second Amendment support groups against an administration against gun ownership, and conservative groups against big government and high taxes, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who are against government policies destroying capitalism. The Democrats, who are financially supported by numerous special interest groups, are calling those groups against universal health care, ‘special interest groups.’

We know that the Republicans in congress in general are against a government sponsored bill. But, now we are seeing Blue-dog Democrats against a government health care, including a bill with a public option. And it has not been un-noticed that Republicans have been left out of many health care meeting.

One group, made up of individual citizens, which the government and many of the leftist news organizations are ignoring or trying to minimize, are beginning to make their voices heard. The tea party members and other citizens are flooding the White House, Senators, and Congressional Representatives with emails and telephone calls to the extent that switchboards and computer servers occasionally go down.

But a sleeping giant has been awakened, and a corrupt government will be hearing more and more from it.

President Barack Obama's Pro-Abortion Record: A Pro-Life Compilation

Dear LifeNews.com Readers,

The recent Pew Research Forum poll had great news for pro-life advocates -- showing that we are gaining ground in the abortion debate. Our numbers are up 11 percent over the last poll Pew conducted.

However, the survey also had some terribly disconcerting results. According to Pew, 42 percent of Americans do not know that President Barack Obama is pro-abortion.

That number includes 25 percent of Republicans who descirbe themselves as conservative and 51 percent of Democrats who describe themselves that way as well.

Please pass along this list to every pro-life person you know. The link to our report on Obama's pro-abortion record is at [click here].

The list is a time-line of the Obama Administration's effort to promote the pro-choice (pro-abortion) agenda over the rest of us, whether we like it or not. It will be updated as events occur. It would be a good idea to bookmark the record for future access.

Third Woman Rushed From California Planned Parenthood After Botched Abortion

October 6, 2009

Riverside, CA (LifeNews.com) -- A third woman in as many weeks was recently rushed to a local hospital from a southern California Planned Parenthood abortion center after an apparent botched abortion required urgent medical care. The latest incident occurred on Saturday morning and was photographed by local pro-life advocates.

Two women were hospitalized in recent weeks from a Planned Parenthood center in Orange, California after alleged botched abortions. Read full story here.

Rick's Comment:
Pro-abortion forces continually criticize pro-life web sites and other pro-life media as seemingly the only sources pro-lifers quote in reporting problems with Planned Parenthood and abortion mills, and not from the so-called mainstream media. This is simple to answer. Most of the media support abortion and do not report anything they consider negative to the abortion industry. On the other hand, they readily publish any negative news involving pro-life celebrities or politicians. Had this incident not been photographed by pro-life advocates, it may never have come to light. Life News is one of the most accurate and reliable pro-life source for news in the abortion industry.

Beier's apparent vendetta against Kline now extends to his former assistant

Posted from Kansas Liberty.Com

The threat by Kansas Supreme Court justice Carol Beier to bring ethics charges against her nemesis, former Attorney General Phill Kline, was apparently broadened Monday to include Kline's former assistant, Stephen Maxwell.

A Supreme Court administrator served Maxwell with a formal complaint alleging Maxwell violated several ethics rules. The complaint was written by Stanton Hazlett, disciplinary administrator. The Board for Discipline of Attorneys is an entity within the Kansas Supreme Court. If Maxwell cannot successfully refute the charge, Beier, who is up for retention in 2010, will be one of the justices who decides his fate. Read entire article here.

I have been following the cases against George Tiller and Planned Parenthood in Kansas for several years and have read various accounts in several local area print media: The Kansas City Star, The Wichita Beacon, The Topeka Capitol-Journal, and the Lawrence Journal World. Of these four, only the Lawrence Journal-World was halfway unbiased in some of their reporting. The other three are solidly pro-choice and hate anything pro-life, and have refused to publish the true facts of the case. They have consistently defended both Tiller and Planned Parenthood, and have railed against Phill Kline and have done all they can to destroy his credibility.

I will follow this case and provide updates when new developments occur. Meanwhile, next year, As the Kansas Supreme Court has done it part in subverting justice, I will do all I can on this web site, through email, and other means, to see that none of the justices, especially Justice Bierer, on the ballot for retention are retained.

Planned Parenthood Deserves the ACORN Treatment, Part 2

Part 2 of Post dated 9/25/09.

This is just one of many youtube videos of various Planned Parenthood locations willing to fail to reveal to law enforcement officials about statutory rape on teen girls.

This is one of the reasons former Johnson County, Kansas District Attorney, Phill Kline, was trying to prosecute Planned Parenthood, and he got nothing but lies and false charges lodged against him. Kansas officials are still trying to get him and one of his former associates disbarred. This is retaliation for his part is trying to point out that Planned Parenthood covers up statutory rape by men over 18, and to intimidate others who would dare charge a darling of the Democratic party, Planned Parenthood, with a crime.
